Welcome to my site!
Let me introduce myself; Hermax, born as Herman Maes in 1966 in Brussels, Belgium. As a young child, I was given the chance to join the music academy and the "music virus" never left me. Right from the beginning, my first interest was trying to compose music rather than to duplicate others. Without much success though, music teachers in those days were typical classical minded and paid no attention to my efforts.
Only when I reached the age of 18, I was able to buy my first synthesizer, the Roland Juno 106, and with the aid of two tape recorders and a small mixer (it's called ping-pong recording) I managed to make some recordings.
My heroes, of course, were Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre. For many years I had no clue how those two artists managed to get their astonishing results. But the world has changed. The Internet came along and synthesizers more and more came into "reasonable" price ranges. These days, everyone can make recordings at home with better sound quality then Vangelis had in the seventies. But that's only one part of it. Sound quality is important, composing talent is another thing.
In no way I'm going to compare my talents with former mentioned artists. They are simply the better of me. Still, I do believe in what I do and find joy in sharing my music for others to listen to. We all feel better when we hear music that we like.
